EDWARD… not a family name, just a name we really loved. Since we didn’t know the gender prior to having our sweet baby boy, we had 9 months to go back and forth on all the baby names we liked and disliked. We had it down to 2 girl names and 2 boy names but couldn’t narrow it down any further. I felt that we needed to meet our baby and see his or her face to really know or decide on a name. As soon as I held Edward in my arms, I heard the doctor ask for a name… I looked at Luke like “omg what is his name”.. and after about two seconds we decided on Edward. The name is of English origin meaning “wealthy guardian” and I just think it’s so handsome and classic! It also helps that we don’t personally know anyone named Edward, so that was an added bonus!
LARSON… his middle name is in honor of my father, John Robert Larson. He is technically my step father but he has raised and loved me since I was a baby so although he isn’t blood, he’s my dad! We chose Larson as Edward’s middle name as my way to honor my dad, to thank him and to show how much I appreciate him loving me as his own.
For all the expecting mamas… don’t stress if you don’t have a name picked out immediately! Some parents have names picked out before they’re even expecting or from day 1 of pregnancy, but if that’s not you, that’s okay! I know how common it is to do a gender reveal and announce little one’s name so I share this as just a different perspective or a different story. This is such a special moment so do whatever feels right for you!
